Judging by the way she’s been today, Anthea seems to have responded well to the operation . She’s been out of bed, both walking a little and spending time in her chair . The morphine etc has on the one hand kept her pain under control but on the other hand caused her a fair amount of nausea which she’s found difficult.
But overall, given yesterday’s operation, it’s been a good day. Anthea would appreciate prayer that her body would be protected from infection and this nausea would subside. Her and the whole family are really grateful for the prayers and messages from so many people.

That is good news. I shall pass the message on for prayer support. We have been praying against infection and complications and will continue to do so. Let’s pray that this is the end of surgery so that Anthea’s body can now rest, heal and recover.
A prayer for you all and especially Anthea which I found today – written by Philaret of Moscow
O Lord let me greet the coming day in peace. Help me in everything to rely on your holy will. In every hour of the day reveal your will to me. Bless my dealings with all who surround me. Teach me to treat all that comes to me throughout the day with peace of soul, and with the firm conviction that your will governs everything. In all my deeds and words guide my thoughts and feelings. In unforeseen events let me not forget that all are sent by you. Teach me to act firmly and wisely, without embittering or embarrassing others. Give me the strength to bear the fatigue of the coming day with all that it shall bring. Direct my will, teach me to pray, pray you yourself in me.

What good news that anthea is responding to the operation. I believe in miracles more than I did a few weeks ago, that’s because God is a great caring & loving God.He won’t let her suffer because he is giong to make her well again. I pray for her & the rest of the family & for Bishop Mike as well. God Bless.

Hardly a day goes by without thinking about and praying for all of you and especially for Anthea’s healing, and God’s peace for the whole family. We long to see you but know how important quietness and rest are for your recovery. God bless all the Hills! Much love from all of us, David and Anne.

So glad to hear that Anthea has come safely through the operation, we were praying for her especially that day at Folly’s End Church. We will continue to pray against infection & nausea and for complete healing – “by His stripes we are healed”. My sister had the same operation 2 years ago & is now fully fit, able to play golf & tennis – be encouraged!
Love & blessings to you all, a precious family – deeply loved by God and all your friends.

Dear Anthea and Mike and family
Still praying for all of you at this time. May the presence of the Lord bless you all, give you comfort and strength. Lord, answer the prayer for protection from infection, if this is your will. Bless the family that are going back to work, help them to look to you for guidance during these unsettling days, in Jesus name.
Pat.

We continue to pray and think about you all in these difficult days. That’s really a great recovery after the latest operation, and we pray with you about infection (Maurice had a dose of MRSA last year!), and the uncomfortable nausea. Our congregation has you on the prayer list, and the rector, Alastair, and Maurice pray at our Weds 8.30am Quiet Times. The Lord continue to be with you with His peace and healing.

We have been remembering Bishop Mike and Anthea in our prayers and are delighted to read that she is making such good progress. The Back Page Interview in the Church Times was so positive and helpful. Promise of continuing love and prayers from the most southerly point in England !

We continue to pray every day and do thank God that the result of the operation is positive — we all also prayed at the St Leonards prayer meeting last night. May the Lord continue to enfold each of you in his hands each day.
With our love,

I’d just like to let Mike and Anthea know that the discipline of praying for you has deepend my own (and others’?) faith. This has come through the discipline of praying for you, both individually and collectively, and through searching for relevant Bible verses.
Philippians 1:3-6
I thank my God whenever I remember you, always in every request of mine on behalf of you all making my requests with joy, for your partnership in furtherance of the Good News from the first day until now; being confident of this very thing, that he who began a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.

Just a quick note before I leave for work. I’ve been praying for you that lovely scripture in Philippians 4v13, ‘I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me,’ but the Lord has shown me that because it is an ‘I’ scripture, it is something that we have to pray for, for ourselves. Some things other people can’t do for us! So take heart and confess I can do some things through Christ who strengthens me? No! ‘I can do ALL things through Christ who strengthens me.’ Be blessed – no-one can snatch you out of the palm of God’s hand.
Lots of love – Lynne

I’d just like to let Bishop Mike and Anthea know that they are very much in my prayers. I’ve been meaning to leave a message since reading the Church Times article last Friday. So many parallels with an accident I was involved in in 1992 in which my sister Penny had a fractured skull, my right shoulder and ribs were also fractured, and life went on hold for several months. But a sacred time as God healed, challenged and spoke somehow within the bubble. As well as a terrible time for the family. It’s been a while since we’ve been in touch when he left to be Bishop of Bristol and I moved to Wales, but think he’ll remember me. Anyway, from mid Wales, heart-felt prayer for you all. Love annie b.
